Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, as a personal AI agent designed to carry out tasks, not just answer questions. For business owners, it signals a shift: a conversation with AI can now set real work in motion. That does not mean every business process is ready to run on its own.

What is Meta Muse?

Muse is Meta’s personal AI agent, combining conversation, planning and task execution. According to the company’s official announcement, it can use its own browser, work with connected services and continue tasks while the user is away from the app. The idea is to move beyond an answer on a screen and follow work through to completion.

Three names are worth keeping distinct:

  • Muse: the agent users talk to and delegate tasks to.
  • Muse Spark: the AI model powering the experience Meta announced.
  • Muse SecureVM: the dedicated computing environment where the agent operates.

Think of the model as part of the reasoning capability, the agent as the work organizer, and the environment as the resources needed to execute it. None replaces business rules on its own.

Meta already documents access to Muse Spark 1.3 through the Meta Model API. That is different from an API for the Muse personal agent: model access does not automatically include the agent’s connections, memory or execution environment.

How is an agent different from a chatbot?

A chatbot can explain how to compare vendors or draft an email. An agent combines those capabilities with tools to carry out steps. Meta describes Muse opening pages, filling out forms, organizing plans and returning when there is an update or an approval needed.

Autonomy does not mean unrestricted permission. Requesting an analysis, granting inbox access and authorizing an email to be sent are different decisions. For a business, that distinction matters more than an impressive demo.

What does Meta say Muse can do?

Official examples include email tasks, travel planning, shopping and goals involving multiple steps. Users can interact through the Muse app or WhatsApp. Meta also describes memory for preferences and proactive suggestions.

Continuity is a key feature: longer tasks can progress after the app closes. The announcement says sensitive actions, such as sending an email or making a purchase, require approval. These are capabilities announced by Meta, not findings from independent testing by RGA.

WhatsApp access should not be read as a ready-made integration with the WhatsApp Business API, your CRM or n8n. Each use case requires confirmation of supported connections, permissions and terms.

How can a small business evaluate Muse?

The following are illustrative evaluation scenarios, not integrations we are claiming are available. Start by asking which task has a clear objective, low risk and a result you can verify.

1. Prepare a comparison before buying

An administrative team needs to choose a tool. A suitable task could be gathering public information on three options, recording links, highlighting limitations and presenting a comparison. People still make the decision and approve the purchase. Define the budget and essential criteria, and prohibit purchases without approval.

2. Get organized before a meeting

A manager could assess whether the agent can turn approved materials into an agenda, outstanding items and questions. Check the output: outdated information or an inference presented as fact could undermine the meeting. Begin with public or fictional content before connecting customer data.

3. Plan a project with checkpoints

Preparing an event involves research, vendors, dates and communication. Evaluate an agent as a planning assistant with intermediate deliverables. Specify when it must stop and ask for a decision. A person remains responsible for approving commitments, spending and external messages.

What about security, permissions and privacy?

Meta describes a dedicated virtual machine for each user, protected credential storage and a separate agent called Sentinel that oversees outbound actions. Users can choose connected services, change access and review an activity history. Details appear in the Muse security documentation.

Announced safeguards address certain risks; they do not make every use automatically safe. A prudent small-business pilot limits access to what is necessary, separates personal and business accounts, and avoids sensitive data. Permission to read documents need not include permission to share files or send messages.

Meta also announced Muse ConfidentialVM for a later stage of 2026. Do not mistake that future commitment for protection already available to everyone. Before business use, review the current terms, training controls and data handling with the appropriate people in your organization.

Is Muse available in Brazil? Is it free?

In its September 8 announcement, Meta described an initial rollout in the United States, on iOS, Android and muse.ai. The official product page also lists a Mac app and confirms a free option with usage limits, alongside subscriptions offering more capacity. This does not establish that every feature is free, unlimited or available in Brazil.

This article was checked on September 23, 2026. The source reviewed does not confirm a Brazilian launch date or a public API for integrating the Muse personal agent with business systems. Check availability for your account and region before designing a process that depends on it.

How do you start without putting operations at risk?

  1. Choose a small task: comparing public information is one example.
  2. Define the deliverable: specify the format, sources, criteria and deadline.
  3. Limit permissions: no purchases, sending or changes without approval.
  4. Check the result: assess errors, quality and review time.
  5. Compare with your current process: measure total effort, not just the speed of the first response.

When connecting customer service, a CRM and internal systems, the architecture needs to account for APIs and integrations, execution logs and failure handling. The same care applies to AI agents in sales. Our page on AI agents for businesses explains how we define that scope.

The takeaway: delegate better, stay in control

Muse matters because it brings AI conversations closer to getting work done. For businesses, the value lies in delegating with clear goals, boundaries and review—not granting access to everything. Start with a task you can verify, then expand only when the tool, its permissions and its results meet your operational needs.

Frequently asked questions
